Dr. Kin practices family medicine and welcomes patients of all levels of health. He provides quality naturopathic medical care that addresses the core principles of naturopathic medicine: 1) First, to do no harm, by using methods and medicines that minimize the risk of harmful side effects. 2) To treat the causes of disease, by identifying and removing the underlying causes of illness, rather than suppressing symptoms. 3) To teach the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine, by sharing knowledge with patients and encouraging individual responsibility for health. 4) To heal the whole person through individualized treatment, by understanding the unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic environmental and social factors that contribute to illness, and customizing treatment protocols to the patient. 5) To emphasize prevention, by partnering with the patient to assess risk factors and recommend appropriate naturopathic interventions to maintain health and prevent illness. 6) To support the healing power of the body, by recognizing and removing obstacles to the body's inherent self-healing process. In addition to the core principles Dr. Kin promotes a science-based as well as an energetic approach to the use of dietary and lifestyle changes, nutritional and herbal medicines, and has obtained additional training and certification in facial rejuvenation and body sculpting (cosmetic) acupuncture and parenteral (intravenous) therapy and applied kinesiology. Dr. Kin completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Northern British Columbia in Biology. Following that he completed the intensive 4 year Naturopathic Doctor program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). During his 12-month internship he participated on the Oncology specialty shift, the Sherbourne Community Health Centre for low income families and Anishnwabe Community Health Centre working towards the health of aboriginals. Dr. Kin Leung has also received additional special training in clinical Oncology as an Oncology resident in at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Kin is licensed to practice Naturopathic Medicine in Alberta, and is registered with the Alberta Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). Kin is also a member of the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy - Naturopathy (BDDT-N), in Ontario, and the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia (CNPBC). He is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP). |
